Advanced, root-cause medicine for complex and chronic health conditions. I am Jarrod Cooper ND, a Naturopathic Doctor and Functional Medicine Practitioner with extensive experience managing complex, unresolved health cases.
Most patients I work with have already seen multiple practitioners, tried protocols, supplements, or medications, yet still lack clarity or sustained improvement. My role is not to guess or chase symptoms, but to:
- Identify underlying drivers of dysfunction
- Interpret advanced testing in context
- Apply a structured, systems-based clinical process
This work requires time, data, and clinical oversight, which is why all care is delivered through program-based consultations, not single appointments.
The model
How my consultation model works
Functional medicine is not a single appointment or quick fix. It is a process. Your body did not reach its current state overnight, and meaningful, lasting change requires a structured, phased approach. For this reason, I work exclusively within program-based care, ensuring your case is properly assessed, implemented, and refined over time.
Why I do not offer single consultations
Most people seeking functional medicine have complex, multi-system issues that developed over years, not weeks. A single consultation rarely provides enough time or data to:
- Identify true root causes
- Interpret advanced testing in context
- Implement and adjust treatment safely
My clinical process relies on
- Comprehensive data collection
- Pattern recognition across systems
- Iterative review and refinement
This is why I work exclusively within program-based care, so your case is assessed properly and not treated in isolation.
My clinical process and Healing Hierarchy
While every case is individual, most follow a similar hierarchical pattern:
- Gut and immune function: digestion, microbiome, gut barrier
- Biochemistry and nutrient status: methylation, minerals, vitamins
- Hormones and neurotransmitters: thyroid, adrenal, sex hormones, mood
- Inflammation and autoimmunity: immune drivers and regulation
- Resilience, longevity and optimisation: long-term stability
Testing and treatment are prioritised based on what will move your case forward first, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Functional Medicine Case Review Program (3 months)
A diagnostic and direction phase. This program is designed for patients who want their case assessed, clarified, and strategically mapped before committing to longer-term care. Over three months, we focus on understanding why your symptoms are occurring and implement a comprehensive treatment plan.
- Have complex or unresolved symptoms and/or need clarity before committing to long-term care
- Have seen multiple practitioners without clear answers
- Want your case reviewed by an experienced functional medicine clinician
- Comprehensive initial consultation (60 to 90 minutes)
- Full medical history, previous test review and new testing recommendations if required
- Functional medicine case analysis
- Two follow-up consultations to refine strategy, review further testing and guide next steps
Important note
This is not a symptom-only or quick-fix consultation. This is a serious diagnostic and strategic case review designed to determine what your body actually needs next.
At the end of this program, one of three outcomes typically occurs:
- Clear resolution of the primary issue, no further care required
- Recommendation for targeted short-term extension
- Transition into 6 or 12 month comprehensive care for complex or multi-system cases
If ongoing care is recommended, a $1,500 credit may be applied toward a 6 or 12 month program.
Comprehensive Functional Medicine Care (6 months)
This program is designed for patients ready to move beyond assessment and into active implementation and healing.
- Comprehensive initial consultation
- Personalised functional medicine strategy
- Advanced functional testing recommendations (as clinically indicated)
- Interpretation of stool, blood, hormone, and metabolic data
- Ongoing refinement of nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation
- Regular follow-up consultations across the 6 month period

Advanced Functional Medicine Care (12 months)
This program is suited to complex, long-standing, or multi-system conditions that require sustained oversight and iterative refinement.
- Full functional medicine assessment and long-term testing strategy
- Review and interpretation of advanced pathology over time
- Structured care across multiple healing phases
- Regular consultations and in-depth case reviews
- Ongoing adjustment based on symptoms, labs, and response

Long-term clinical oversight (annual)
This program is available by invitation to patients who have completed a minimum of 12 months of care and wish to remain under long-term clinical oversight.
- Two comprehensive review consultations
- Annual review of core pathology, for example bloods and HTMA
- Targeted additional testing where clinically indicated, for example stool or metabolic testing
- Strategic adjustments to nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation
- Retain contact through the patient portal year round with Jarrod Cooper ND
Case studies
The Clinical Evidence Archive
We do not manage symptoms. We resolve mysteries.
Standard medicine calls them “idiopathic” or “incurable.” We call them unsolved. Here is what happens when you stop treating the diagnosis and start treating the system.
The medical mystery case
The diagnosis: Idiopathic hypersomnia. “We do not know why you are sleeping.”
The standard care: Stimulants for life.
The FMS outcome: “Completely changed my life.”
“I was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia… which basically means ‘we don’t know why.’ I was about to go on medication to keep me awake. Jarrod found the underlying cause, parasites and gut dysfunction and imbalances with brain chemistry. Treating the cause changed everything.”
Molly
The impossible case
The diagnosis: Progressive interstitial lung disease.
The standard care: High-dose steroids to slow the inevitable decline.
The FMS outcome: Stabilised and medication-free.
“I was on high-dose steroids. I didn’t feel better; I felt worse. Through Jarrod’s process, I stabilized my condition to the point where I chose to stop taking the steroids. I haven’t been on them for quite some time. I got my life back.”
Maureen
The lifetime medication case
The diagnosis: Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, and high blood pressure.
The standard care: “You will be on medication forever.”
The FMS outcome: 15kg lost and off blood pressure medication.
“My energy levels are dramatically increased. I’ve lost 15kg. My thyroid antibodies are trending down. And most importantly, my blood pressure dropped to a point where I stopped medication, and I’ve been off it ever since.”

Why our results are different
Most practitioners practice protocol-driven care. They wait for a diagnosis, then match it to a drug. It is designed to manage symptoms.
We practice capacity-driven care. We map the timeline, sequence the treatment upstream, and restore your body’s ability to heal itself.
- We do not guess. We measure.
- We do not mask. We resolve.
- We do not manage. We architect.
Proof of process
Proof of process
Rather than relying on single anecdotes, my approach is built on repeatable clinical process.
Across cases, this typically includes:
- Symptom tracking to establish baseline patterns and response to care
- Strategic use of stool, blood, hormone, and organic acids testing
- Identifying environmental or chemical toxicities
- Re-testing where appropriate to confirm direction and response
- Adjusting treatment based on how your body actually responds
This process allows us to move beyond guesswork and into measurable, data-informed care.

Outcomes
Common outcomes patients experience
While results vary by individual, patients commonly report:
- Improved energy and mental clarity
- Resolution or significant reduction of chronic digestive symptoms
- Improved hormonal balance and stress tolerance
- Reduced inflammatory or autoimmune activity
- Better sleep, mood, and long-term resilience
A note on testing
Testing is always personalised. Depending on your presentation, this may include:
- Comprehensive stool analysis (GI-MAP or equivalent)
- Organic Acids Test (OAT)
- DUTCH hormone testing
- Advanced blood biomarker panels
Testing is recommended strategically, not excessively, and discussed during your consultation.
Is this right for you?
I work best with patients who:
- Have ongoing or complex health issues
- Want to understand why symptoms are occurring
- Are prepared to engage in a structured, process-driven approach
This work is not suited to those seeking quick fixes or symptom-only care.

Apply to work together
The application takes about five minutes. It is presented in three short steps so a long form never reads as a wall, and it tells me enough to judge whether program-based care is the right fit before we speak.
